Little Update

Well, I only have 4 weeks left of teaching to go now. This also means 4 weekends left in Korea. I can't believe that the time is going by so fast. To further clarify that, I really only have two days where I actually do stuff at school: Monday and Tuesday. So after those two days have passed the rest of the week goes on autopilot and I just sit back and watch it roll by.

It is very scary how quick the passage of time is. At the same time, I've come to notice that 3 months is the perfect amount of time for me to be spending in Korea. Just enough time to see the things that I want to see and not get worn down with monotonous weekdays. It's not that being an ESL teacher isn't fun; on some levels it is very rewarding. It's that sometimes it can make the weeks seem really repetivitve. "Go in, do this, do this, do this, do this, ok, we're done again. Oh another weekend. Where are we going? Downtown, eh? Oh...Again...Cool...Jeez, I wish I could travel in Korea." This is more or less what I wanted to avoid and it seems to be exactly what happened to me. I know the winter would be like this too if it's like this in the warmer parts of the summer. It's kind of a shame too because if I had been able to go with Dave then we would have been going everywhere all the time, whether I liked it or not. Hahaha. But, you know what? It is what it is and I'm going to come home. The next time I go on vacation, I'm not working any of it so I can just see things all the time instead of settle into a routine life. I didn't come to Korea for a routine life. I have that at home.

But fear not, citizens! All that awaits is four more weekends. First, I will go to Mudfest this Saturday. Then, I will go to Seoul the next weekend. After that is Busan. Finally, I will finish the trip off by spending some last moments in Daegu and going to a historical spot close to the city with my Korean partner teacher, Soon Hee. So that monotony I was talking about...We are now through it and back to the fun that is travelling. Now, if only we could do something about this rain...

But I digress. Perhaps it would be more prudent to tell you a little bit of what I did on my weekend. Well, that's simple. Friday, I just hung out with Nick. Saturday I went out for some usual Daegu stuff and ended up home at around 7:30am. Pretty standard weekend I guess.

So, that's it for the update. I'm looking forward to breaking the mold this weekend, and in a different way, to seeing everyone again. Less than 30 days now and they will all fly by, so watch out!
